Heavy goods vehicle and truck brake disc
The manufacturer's and adaptable brake disc
Specialist in heavy-duty automobile parts, we have brake discs of several brands and models to ensure your driving. A very important element, the brake disc must be checked and changed if necessary.
How the brake disc works
An integral part of braking systems, brake discs play an important role when driving. These devices are always accompanied by brake pads, a piston and a caliper. Furthermore, some models have sensors incorporated into the pads which detect possible wear. This assembly is connected to the brake pedal and is connected to it by a hydraulic system which allows everything to be activated. In fact, by pressing the brake pedal, hydraulic fluid is released from the master cylinder, moving the piston and pushing the pads against the brake disc.
The brake disc for heavy goods vehicles, what is it for?
Most heavy-duty vehicles, such as trailers and semi-trailers, are equipped with disc brake systems at each end of the trailer axles. The brake disc is then the support used to create resistance in order to immobilize the wheels as well as the vehicle by ricochet. This means that the brake discs play a safety and anti-collision role.
The different types of brake discs
Generally speaking, there are three types of brake discs. First of all, there are the conventional ones, which are more suitable for normal use, while the perforated brake discs are more suitable for heavy goods vehicle use. In fact, the perforations allow the diffusion of heat and are therefore more suitable for towing. The third type is the slotted type. Slotted brake rotors are alternatives to perforated rotors with added grooves.
Replacing the brake disc
Brake rotors can last up to 115,000 km. But depending on the use, that is to say the routes and the way of driving, this reference may not be taken into account. By this,It is important to detect signs of wear on the discs such as squeaking when braking or vibrations. A naked eye inspection is also possible to detect scratches and various wear.
